A History of Theatre

Viola H. Stancil began exploring theatre in high school. Their initial interest lay in acting, but they quickly became inspired by directing, which led her down a path of both performance and technical theater. His most ambitious theatre accomplishment was in their senior year of high school, where she wrote and directed a 30-minute play called Vanity Square. It was showcased at their high school’s first annual student led One Act Festival (2024). The music in Vanity Square was composed and directed by Jaxon Grow. The theatre accomplishment they are most proud of was getting to work as Assistant Stage Manager alongside Morgan L. Bailey for Experience Theatre Projects Macbeth ft. music inspired by Radiohead (2026). Her favorite acting roles she’s gotten the pleasure of performing as (so far) was Mama Peterson in Bye Bye Birdie (2024) and Juror #1 in 12 Angry Jurors (2025). Viola believes that theatre is what led to her inevitable love and pursuit of cinema. They believe theatre to be an important part of who they are, and they hope to continue having it be a part of their life for a very long time.
